In June of 2013 we opened Sandy and Jenn a mother daughter team opened their first store, All Aboard Exchange Western Wear. The store was located in the old train station in Clayton, Delaware. We carried a variety of men's, women's, & children's western wear/boutique style clothing, western boots, hats, gifts, home decor, and more. We also talked about the idea of creating our own line of t-shirts that we could sell in our store. That idea was but on the back burner many times because the names that we were coming up with just didn't feel right.
At the end of 2014 things started to fall into place when we decided on the name "Stubborn Soul" for our line of t-shirts. Once we registered the name we launched our first designs in early 2015. Towards the middle of 2015 we knew we had to make a move from our current location. We were out of room and needed to be in an area with more traffic.
With the growth in Middletown and the work that is going into the downtown area we knew it would be a perfect spot for us. When we first looked at the old hardware store we knew this was the place for our new location. We also knew that we had to do some rebranding and our old name "All Aboard Exchange Western Wear" had to go and "Stubborn Soul" would be the right fit for the name of the new store.
Stubborn Soul in Middletown, Delaware opened officially on October 7th, 2017. With the rebranding, we decided to have less "western wear" and more boutique with a southern flair. We want to offer something for everyone but stay true to our roots and what we first started out as. We are very happy with the move and the outpour of support from the community, new customers, past customers, and local business owners. We are so excited to see what the future holds for us!
